In January, Spokane’s Avista Stadium, home of Spokane Indians baseball, will be transformed from a grassy field to an icy rink for an historic hockey event. January 15th, the Spokane Chiefs will host the Kootenay Ice in the Rockstar Outdoor Hockey Classic. Rockstar Energy Drink is the title sponsor. This will be the WHL’s (Western Hockey League) first outdoor game ever! If you are a hockey fan, you don’t want to miss this. Tickets are on sale now at the Spokane Chiefs office and through all TicketsWest Outlets. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Bobby Brett, Spokane Chiefs President, said “Since the NHL outdoor game in Buffalo 2008 I have wanted the Spokane Chiefs to play in one. I think it will be an unbelievable event for our players and fans.”

The event will be the first of two outdoor games played in the league this year. The Calgary Hitmen will host the Regina Pats on February 21st, 2011 at McMahon Stadium.

Tickets range from $25 for right field box seats to $100 for “superseats” that include all-you-can-eat hot dogs, Pepsi products, and peanuts. Avista Stadium’s group areas will also be available for purchase. Tickets can be purchased by calling 509-535-PUCK (7825) or TicketsWest at 800-325-SEAT. Go Chiefs!
